SAMUHA-Plan : Educational Strategies

*
Focus on non-enrolled and drop-out children through interventions ranging from community awareness and education leading to re-enrolment and retainment. As there is still very low demand for education, especially in the Deodurg Taluk portion of the project area, there is continuous need to reinforce community understanding as to why education is essential for the community's children.

*
Maintain a 'quality school' model education program that has already been initiated in 1 cluster with a local teacher's resource group called Shikshakara Samuha;

*
Increase the participation of the community in the running of schools by facilitating school development management committees to assess teacher:student ratios, and make need-based requests for the placement of government school assistants (GSA's) and village education animators (VEA's) in their schools;

*
Provide Govt School teachers with regular teacher training throughout the year.

*
Equip all schools with necessary teaching and learning materials, and English language kits in government primary schools as English language has been introduced recently and teachers are not capacitated.

*
Increase opportunities for children to learn and have fun in a non-academic yet structured framework.

*
Develop and support a government school Teachers Resource Group as informal associations in each of the 2 operational districts leading to a - teacher2teacher - program.

*
Further develop existing linkages with local resource groups and government.

*
Provide government and supplementary schools with educative, informative and creative wall paintings to motivate regular attendance

*
Enhance learning space through extensions and repairs of needy school buildings

*
Provide extra coaching support to children attending class 7 and class 10 Public exams.
