· In 1987 (when SAMUHA
first began work in Deodurg Taluk in Raichur District) Literacy
was, at 11%, the lowest in the State, while Female Literacy
was an abysmal 7%
· The 2 districts presently
have the largest disabled population in the State
· The HIV/AIDS epidemic
has generalized. ANC prevalence for Koppal district is 8%
