PLAN
INTERNATIONAL: SAMUHA PLAN is a collaborative Integrated
Rural Development project working with 9642 families from 91
villages of Raichur and Koppal district in Karnataka.
Swiss Development Cooperation/Inter
Cooperation: The SAMUHA-Kanakanala project is part
of the 3-district Indo-Swiss Participatory Watershed Development-Karnataka
Project, and is a collaborative endeavor between the watershed
communities and their institutions, SDC/IC, MYRADA, PRAWARDA
and SAMUHA. The Kanakanala Watershed Project covers a total
area of 13,402.42 hectares in 24 villages. The project is
presently being implemented in two stages, which will develop
9,500 ha of this watershed.
MacArthur Foundation:
The SAMRAKSHA-MacArthur Foundation HIV/AIDS programme works
on Counseling, Care and Support for over 500 people living
with HIV/AIDS and with over 1500 people affected by HIV/AIDS.
It also caters to 1500 sex workers across Bangalore City through
the Vulnerable Peoples Protection programme. Womens
Reproductive Health is integral component of this programme.
University of California
(San Francisco): The SAMRAKSHA-UCSF collaborative
Research project on Gender, Power and Susceptibility to HIV/AIDS/STI,
and the SAMUHA-UCSF collaborative Research project on Adolescents,
Livelihoods and Susceptibility to HIV/AIDS/STI have been undertaken
to understand issues that make women and adolescent girls
vulnerable to HIV/AIDS/STI.
CBM International:
CBM supports SAMUHA SAMARTHYAs advocacy,
therapeutic services, orthotic workshops and other disability
services in Raichur district.
BasicNeeds India:
BasicNeeds India works in partnership with local organisations
to promote an innovative model of community mental health
and development. The SAMARTHYA-BNI partnership is currently
based on a Mental Health and Development programme in Raichur,
Koppal and Uttara Kannada districts.
Indo-German Social
Service Society: IGSSS supports Jana Sahayogs
project for improvement of living conditions in urban slums
through the use of participatory legal intervention processes
in 7 cities of Karnataka.
Oxfam GB:
Oxfam GB supports SAMRAKSHAs continuum of care services
in Bangalore.
Skillshare International:
Skillshare provides HIV/AIDS Technical Support to SAMRAKSHA.
SAMUHA Overseas Development
Association: SODA, which was initiated by a volunteer
physiotherapist who worked in building SAMARTHYAs technical
capabilities, is a non-profit society registered in British
Columbia, Canada, for the purpose of supporting SAMARTHYAs
disability activities.
CAPART:
The Disability Action Division of the Council for Advancement
of Peoples Action and Rural Technology supports SAMARTHYAs
CBRD programme in Raichur district.
KSAPS: The
Karnataka State Aids Prevention Society is currently supporting
SAMRAKSHAs Sex Worker Protection programme in Bangalore;
Targeted Interventions on Commercial Sex Workers in Raichur
and Koppal districts; the Healthy Highways Project along NH13
in Koppal district; and the 15-bedded community care centre
for People Living With HIV/AIDS in Koppal district.
NABARD:
The SAMUHA-NABARD watershed programme was initiated in the
year 2000 and is presently operational in Raichur and Koppal
districts of Karnataka. It covers 6000 Hectares through 6
micro-watersheds.
Inter-Church Organisation
for Development Organisation: ICCO supports SAMUHAs
Pampa Nagara Mahila Abhivrudhi Project since 2000. This has
helped organize a group of 45 former Devadasis into a People
Development Organisation and undertake land development activities,
a supplementary school for the children and dry land horticulture.
JRD Tata Trust:
The JRD Tata Trust supports SAMRAKSHAs womens
reproductive programme since 1996. This has helped us to mobilise
support for community-based reproductive and sexual health
promotion and run the Well Woman Clinic, its lab services
and medication.
Women & Child Welfare
Department, GOK: The Women and Child Welfare Department,
GoK, in association with UNICEF-Hyderabad, is supporting the
Community Monitoring Project, a pilot to involve women in
the community in the monitoring of departmental programmes
with implications on child survival and growth, maternal health,
and early childhood stimulation and child development.
